Our History

Our managing director, David W Headrick comes from a long line of merchants which spans over three generations when his grandfather commenced business in Lake Street, Cairns in the early 1900's under the company name of Headrick Pty Ltd.

Headricks' was very well known and respected by its customers and suppliers as the leading industrial and agricultural retailer in North Queensland. The company sold a variety of product such as fencing materials, steel, wire rope, bolts and nuts, cane knives and cane harvester parts and equipment - when mechanical harvesting was introduced to the Australian market in 1964. Even their famous OP rum was included with many of the orders delivered!

North Queensland Agricultural Supplies was born in 1976, selling harvester parts from under the home of Terry O’Shea in Home Hill. Soon after, with a small band of dedicated staff, David W Headrick opened the Cairns office.

NQAS has been involved in the supply of non-genuine harvester parts to suit the Austoft and Cameco cane harvesters since the company started in 1976.

NQAS would never have been able to achieve all this without the dedicated band of loyal people employed throughout the Company. Their dedication and expertise has demonstrated NQAS' long term commitment to the agricultural industry - As a successful independent supplier of parts through sales and after-sale service and support.
